Peter Pan (2003?)

Plot:  You know the story, boy who doesn't grow up, flies, Neverland, Captain Hook, all that... This version will be live action though.

Dark Horizons is reporting that Jeremy Sumpter (Frailty) will play the title role.

Over at AICN, Moriarty has reviewed the script. He raves over it, calling it far superior to the animated film.

"If my worst complaint is that the pace of this thing is exhausting and that there’s almost an over-abundance of imagination on display, then that’s a pretty good complaint, as complaints go. This manages to deliver unforgettable imagery, a wonderful fantasy world that we’ve never seen realized like this, great pirate action scenes (something I never thought we’d see again after Renny Harlin single-handedly killed the genre dead), and characters that manage to reveal all sorts of depth as the script plays out."

Jason Isaacs (Black Hawk Down, The Patriot) will be playing the villain Captain Hook. He's getting a real reputation for villains, he's also signed on to play the villain in the second Harry Potter movie. He spoke to Empire Online about the project. "It's a very faithful adaptation of the Victorian novel directed by the Australian director P.J Hogan, who did Muriel's Wedding." Is that why the movie will be shot in Australia? "Yes, but also because Australia has rainforest and jungle and that's where Neverland will be. It's fantastic! They say never work with children and animals and it'll be me and a bunch of 12-year-olds for much of the time."
