DVD Releases for 7 November, 2000
Another phat Tuesday is upon us lads. Break out ye checkbooks as there is something for everybody this week. Animation fans have two big reasons to rejoice.
- Transformers: The Movie - And we really mean it this time. After numerous delays, Rhino's got it ready. When it comes you TF:TM, you either get it or you don't. If you do, you (like me) are counting down the minutes until you can pop this baby in. Ultra Magnus, Galvatron, Unicron, bad 80's rock a la "you've got the touch...." My all-time favorite animated movie.
- Titan A.E. - Fox billed this as the 'Star Wars of Animation.' Maybe an overstatement, but this is still one badass movie. Anyone who likes sci-fi, animation, or especially both needs to buy this one. It's a crying shame a movie like this tanked at the box office. It is not indicative of the quality, trust me. - Mission: Impossible 2 - This will surely be the big seller this week, although I was personally a bit let down by this one. In any case, it will be a hell of a dvd. See Ethan Hunt do his best James Bond impersonation, with longer hair. Sure to be stacked with extras.
- X-Files Season 2 - I'm a diehard X-phile, but I'm still waiting for seasons 3, 4 and 5. That's when the show really started to blossom. But if you just have to own everything X-Files, but ready to shell out a good $100 or so.
- Wall Street - A look at the 80's economy, starring Michael Douglas and Charlie Sheen. Some knowledge of financial markets is probably a prerequisite to understand the film, but even if you can't, it's a cool flick.
Others notables:
Donnie Brasco, A South Park Christmas, The Perfect Storm, Powerpuff Girls: Powerpuff Bluff, Kids, Body Shots, and finally, the Beastie Boys Video Anthology.
