DVD Releases for May 22, 2001
Well, after two straight weeks of total crap on dvd, finally we have some good stuff. Read on, and enjoy.
| #1 | Requiem For A Dream -- a TNMC favorite. Check out Shea's review here. And yes, it really is that good. Aronofsky gets awesome performances out of Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly and Ellen Burstyn. He even gets Marlon Wayans to act as well! This tale of four doomed souls comes with some nice extras: a commentary by Aronofsky, production notes, trailers, a making of doc, deleted scenes, and interviews with Burstyn and Hubert Selby, Jr., the author. |

| #2 | Stargate SG:1 - Boxed Set (Vol. 1-5) - The First Season -- While not quite great, this series has always been appealing to me. It's just a great premise, and every now and then, they really do capitalize on it. Comes as a 5 disc set, with little else than the episodes (just some behind the scenes stuff), but they are widescreen anamorphic. |

| #3 | Big Trouble in Little China: Special Edition -- the cult classic comes home in a nice way. If you've never seen this, it's probably too late for you, but some people really love it. Directed by John Carpenter, and stars Kurt Russell when he was still on the way up. Extras include: deleted scenes, featurette, commentary by Carpenter and Russell, still gallery and advertising gallery, a music video (?) and trailers. It's 2 discs. |

| #4 | Dungeons & Dragons - New Line Platinum Series -- I really wanted to like this movie. I even went in to the theatre knowing it would be bad, but hopefully enjoyable. It wasn't. Not even remotely. But I am curious to see how it ends. I slept through the last half. Anyway, comes with trailers, 2 commentaries, 2 docs - "let the games begin" and "making of D&D." Also, 11 deleted scenes w/ commentary, 4 multi-angle scenes, and plenty of DVD-ROM stuff. A nice dvd, for a pretty bad movie. |

| #5 | Vertical Limit: Special Edition -- Chris O'Donnell and Robin Tunney go looking for their careers atop of K2. Did they find them? Oh, you'll have to watch to find out...comes with commentary by Director Martin Campbell, HBO First Look, real life searh and rescue tales, and Quest for K2 featurette. |

| #6 | Sex In The City - Complete Second Season -- More sexy hijinks from four really easy New York women. Okay, I can't hide it...I do like this show. But I'm not proud of it. This set is 18 episodes, six than season 1, which comes to about 540 minutes. |
