Spectacular Report

Thanks to my new buddy and reviewer 'John Doe' I managed to catch one of the most awaited movies of the year, Minority Report. I'm very grateful for that. It was worth the wait and I'm hoping most of you readers will see it this weekend. Next week, we'll have the script review to the Jackson/Travolta rematch Basic. Have a nice weekend!

The Daredevil Trailer

The screening began with the Solaris teaser. Which wasn't much but gave us an idea of what Soderbergh is going for. High on my list of must-read projects. Then we got an unexpected surprise, the debut of the Daredevil trailer. It's not a teaser, it's a freaking TRAILER. Shots of a rooftop with gargoyles we turn around and see Daredevil next to them. He throws his stick at us and we begin the ride. We catch a glimpse of everything. Elektra looks hot. Ferrell looks menacing. Foggy Nelson. Coolio? DD in action. Woha really cool! Joey Pants as Ben Urich. The imposing big man in the white suit. Some Elektra kicking ass. DAMN! It looks amazing!!! Well worth the price of admission for the trailer only. Another 8 months to wait...

My Review of Minority Report

The first movie I ever saw was E.T. by Steven Spielberg when I was four years old. Through out my youth, his movies have influenced my life. I adored Hook. Jurassic Park was a classic. Schindler's List was tragic and inspiring. Saving Private Ryan was one of the most brutal cinematic rides. His last film A.I. was a monumental disaster in my eyes. One of the worst movies Spielberg has ever directed. Don't worry though, he has rebounded with some of his best work ever. Minority Report is by a landslide the best movie of the year so far. The movie opens today and features a stellar cast headlined by Tom Cruise, Max Von Sydow, Colin Ferrell and Samantha Morton.

In 2054, Washington D.C. has become the first city with a Pre-Crime unit. The experiment has eradicated murder from the region. Lamar Burgess's (Max Von Sydow) project is about to go nationwide. The Unit's commander John Anderton (Tom Cruise) is an intense leader. Still haunted by the kidnapping of his son, he has become a drug addict under investigation by the Justice Department's latest gung ho bureaucrat (Colin Ferrell). An unexpected turn of events happens, the latest future murderer is Anderton himself. A wild ride for John begins, where he will need to find the minority report so that his life can be saved...

I'm going to make a bold prediction right now, Janusz Kaminski will be nominated for Best Cinematography next year. I would strongly hope that he'll win it too. His photography is wonderful. He's been a favorite of mine for a longtime. He has managed to out do himself once again and completely blow our mind with his work for this feature. A tour de force for Mr. Kaminski. Spielberg's directing is riveting and spectacular. I have never seen him do anything like this before. It's refreshing and extremely entertaining. The screenplay by Jon Cohen and Scott Frank is nicely written. They've done an incredible job allowing the detailed storyline to flow perfectly.

The acting is top notch. Tommy is great delivering another great performance. He's expanding his repertoire lately and it's paying off. Max Von Sydow is a lock for a best supporting actor nomination, it's a splendid performance from the aging thespian. The Irish import Colin Ferrell doesn't steal the show but he delivers. The lucky few who have seen American Outlaws know that he has great untapped potential. Daredevil will make him a star. Samantha Morton is great. Band of Brothers' Neal McDonough is good. He's a talented newcomer and I can't wait to see more of him. Plus, there are great cameos from Cameron Crowe and Tommy's cousin.

The action sequences are well worth the price of admission alone. Add a realistic look at life in 50 years filled with commercialization everywhere and you have the best thriller of the year. A film noir reborn for the 21st Century. I can't wait to see it again!

Another Minority Report Review

"Hey folks,I would like to thank Deadpool for giving me a chance of chiming in my own opinion about Minority Report. Oh and please bear with me as this is my first review... ever.

I have to say that I'm a huge Steven Spielberg fan. Raiders, Close Encounters, E.T, Jaws,... are all part of my favorite movies list. However, I never really dug Spielberg's last film, A.I.

I'm happy to report that you can add Minority Report to that list. This film is ridiculously good. It's smart, compelling, and above all, entertaining. One thing that the Indiana Jones sequels lacked are memorable, epic-like sequences. Raiders of the Lost Ark opening scene? Legendary. The scene in the tomb with the snakes? Unforgettable. The opening scene of MR is friggin cool. The jet-pack chase is memorable. That's what A.I. lacked: great moments.

Great moments in Minority Report? Lots of em. For example, you might have seen in the trailers the jet-pack chase sequence. This is a helluva ride. It's fast paced and fun. Or what about the spider-robots sequence? Fantastic. Oh by the way, that sequence was designed and made by PDI for Dreamworks . The CG in the movie is terrific, ILM and PDI (and with the help of Alex MacDowell's cool production designs) did a great job in constructing a believable futuristic world. I won't spoil the other great moments for you because it's so fun to see them unravel.

Let's not forget that this is a science fiction movie. Science fiction is supposed to be projection, a critical look at the human condition, of what we really are right now, in the present time. MR presents a futuristic yet totally cold world. The humans are not humans but mere products of the society. Janusz Kaminski's cinematography is perfect here. The colors are over saturated, in tones of white, blue and gray. Every exterior shot presents a flashy white sky. Nothing is bright in this futuristic world. Only in the finale shot of the movie you can see a perfectly orange sun illustrating hope for the human. Acting-wise the casting is perfect. Tom Cruise is worth every penny they pay him. He once again proves that he can handle perfectly drama and action. The supporting cast is also great.

This is the best movie of the year so far. Don't miss it. This movie is what movie going is all about: smart, fun and entertaining.

The wait for Indy 4 is gonna be unbearable..."

(Review submitted by John Doe. Enjoy your vacation!!)

Stay tuned...

That's all folks...
